I will start by asking what/why lever action, or why switch to .308? I know little about firearms laws in Australia, except that they are very restrictive compared to America.

We can't have semis, and im not a fan of pump rifles. Lever guns are handy in the scrub, and for the ranges i shoot over, perfect for walking. That and I have always wanted one. The 308 is a more rounded cartridge and you can get slighly cheaper ammo. I want something on the big end, in case I ever want to step up. Having said that, i don't want to go bigger than that.

A Parker Hale can be worth a lot of money depending on how nice it is.

Its in really good nick. Literally gets taken out for a clean and oil every few years. When i got given it the gun dealer said it was one of the best he had ever seen. Prior to that it had sat in my brother in laws gun box for probably 10 years.

I would not miss it, i hardly ever use it. Could i get another rifle yes, would i want another parker hale. No.
