IIRC, your "666" Swede is an FSR, isn't it? Sorta like this? If so, I believe it is a M96 that was modified for civilian marksmanship matches, like mine:

I acquired my first Swede Mauser about a year and a half ago, and have been in love with them ever since.

Local gun store has some re-arsenal Mosin Nagant 1891/30 and Simonov SKS-1945. Which one should I pick? And before one of you smart asses says both, this is my new apartment "house-warming" present, so I can't splurge.

    The 666 rifle is a shortened M96.

I have both, so that is a decision that you have to make. By one and later get the other. If I had to buy one first, the SKS would probably be the one.

    Without a doubt, the SKS.

Ah, okay. For some reason, I thought it was the FSR.

How does a dual sight system work.....say for example on the German issued rifle HK G36?

Is it an optic for long range combined with red/green dot for short range? is there an iron sight anywhere?

it is simply a red dot over the 3x scope, you either use the red dot, or the scope, depending on the situation or your needs,
    its no rocket sience..
you use the scope for longer distances, and the dot for quick target aquisition and reaction shooting

there are no irons, the red dot replaces the use of irons, in the case of g36 the red dot is a dual powered batterie/solarpowered one
so (at least in my active duty time) i never seen one to replace the batteries of his red dot.
