Its a very nice rifle and I would love to be able to fire it but something bothers me in general on all modern rifles such as these and that is how can a service rifle not have fixed iron sights.....I mean when it comes to electronic sights and scopes they are delicate instruments that require upkeep of zero no?, batteries can run out and the solar energy can be blocked by weather or what not. **** happens so then what.
I agree, Ayrudzi. Rifles with optics should definitely have back-up iron sights. Especially something that's going to be subjected to field conditions.
I can understand sniper rifles not having fixed sites to a certain degree but not having trusty iron sites on a rifle that could be subject to abuse, now that would make me worry and make me want to consider getting after market attachable sites for it, just in case....maybe I am just old fashion or thinking too much into it.
Anyone know of a drop in Replacement for the sights on an Springfield Armory Milspec?

Cute Kids as always bro - your weapon collection is like the colors of benneton - lol![]()
ACOG ftw - never needs batteries, and the original NSN model comes with backup irons installed. although I have flip ups on my M4 to back up the ACOG.
X2
X2 - Although stuff like the ACOG is pretty dammed rugged. You break one of those, you are probably gonna break something else on your rifle as well. EOTec and Aimpoint - not so much - but they also need batteries.
SKS owners; is there difference in quality between hardwood and laminate stock SKS's???(Russian)
im getting one but i will eventually replace stock, just wondering if saving $20 makes sense?
Not really. I personally think Russian laminate ("Russian Red") looks good on ComBloc weapons, but if you've got the chance to inspect them prior to buying, go with whichever is in better shape. If you're going to TAPCO it up, that's your prerogative, but I wouldn't concern myself with the standard stock if that's what you're doing.
thanks NABN
