    @Bartok5:

    HOLY ****STICKS!!!!!!!!!

That is a lot of weaponry.

I would post a pic of my weapons, but the only one I actually own is an air rifle ( ) the others are just allocated to me.

    Nice photos lads.

One dream I have: M14 with good optics on top of it. That would really be something!

Were you allowed to bring any of your pistols to Afghanistan as a PMC?
Your not allowed to use/bring your own personal firearms in the military.
Oh I know that.. I was just wondering because James is a private military contractor. I thought that since he's technically not under a military branch, that he could bring some stuff from home. I was wrong of course.

    James,

I'm interested in getting an ARMS hand guard for my project AR and i just wanted to know if you've been completely satisfied with yours? I was also thinking of not getting a forward hand grip like i see your is set up, i'm guessing there is no problem without one. If you have anything else to say about it i'd like to know. Thank you in advance.

    Are they the same weapon?
No. The one in this picture has a short barrel - just 10 or 11 inches. My own here at home has a 16" heavy barrel.
    Ah ok, makes sense
    Thank you.

Sorry mate, didn't mean to single you out. There were quite a few pics of weapons resting on their barrels. We have it drilled into us never to rest the rifle on its barrel, it's just part of my training. I doubt the barrel would warp, but it's something you get torn a strip off for doing. Now it's like nails on a chalkboard to me!

There's always the danger of the weapon crashing down onto the floor. Not good if it's loaded, but indicative of poor weapon handling even if it isn't. Plus it's very embarassing!

We are told to rest the weapon only on its furniture, and also get beasted if it is left flat on the ground. It's either in your hand, resting on its foregrip on your belt kit, or on your boot (so you don't ever move off without it).

    This is ok:

    This...aaaaaaarrrrrrgh!

    Sabre,

I've just realized what all those firearms are leaning against, it's the door to a safe, so more than likely he pulled them out just to take the pics( which I'm glad he did) and I would assume he stores his firearms in his safe the same way as me, barrel facing up?

No doubt. I'm sure all the guys who have been good enough to post pictures of their rifles store them safely and correctly. It seems like the logical thing to do to quickly take a snap of the weapon by leaning it up against the locker.

Probably, there's no harm to the barrel caused by doing this. It's just one of those many things that would come under the Army's generic heading of 'bad drills' and hence lead to a bollocking!

Like I said before, it's more of a bad habit. On a range, the rifle isn't loaded until very near to the time you fire it and safety is easier to enforce/monitor. I think the idea is that, in the army, you have your weapon loaded a lot of the time in case you need to use it, but often need to get on with other tasks. The aim is to encourage very tight self-discipline regarding the weapon and where it is pointing, the tighter the discipline, the less likely you are to cuse yourself or others injury.
