Sears, man oh man, I'd like to see the look on the face of the hardware guy when you ask about a replacement bolt and mag

I picked this up yesterday, a WW2 Japanese Arisaka type 99 rifle. IT has original stock (bubba job), and was rechambered to .30-06. Cleaned her up and took her out today, has a bore like a mirror and is a great shooter. I was hitting targets 100 yards away from the very first shot. I paid $100. I'll be on the lookout for a full-length stock.
    Cheers

Not only Sears sold firearms, but there was Montgomery Wards, Western auto, all "private label" names. I need to check my 22's to remember which ones that I have.

Nice Beretta, Zeke. How's it feel, compared to the full-sized M9?

    ThunderW,

Neat Arisaka "sporter". I've got a Type 99, still has the crysanthemum on it.

Same here! Where was yours made? Mine's a Toyo Kogyo (now Mazda), made in '41 or '42 in Hiroshima Prefecture.

I have no idea who made mine. I gotta take a picture of it later. It's a nice rifle though!

No sling, anti aircraft sights, cleaning rod, or that sh*tty bipod.

The Centurion is the same size as the M9. Same capacity and all. They took off a little bit of the barrel and renamed it.

Kinda sorta like what a Commander is to a 1911...

You should slap some Hogues on that bitch.

I'm not a fan of Hogues grips. Doesn't do anything for me. I can keep a tight grouping.

Huh. I just feel that they greatly increase the "controllability" or what have you. Especially if you've got oily hands (seafood market drivebys).

But hey, if not, you save money.

Maybe it's just me. I shot guns with Hogue grips but I didn't felt like it help me any. The accuracy was the same and the control was a bit better but not enough for me to put it on my pistols. Like I said , just me.

    Taco,
I just picked up an Arisaka bayonet w/ scabbard for $100 on another forum (wehrmacht-awards.com) from somebody who acquirred a big lot of WWII USMC war souvenirs. He still has a few available, and one might look good on the rifle, if you care to display it.
You might want to check it out. I'll e-mail you a photo of what he has.
