On the carbines there are two group, reproductions looks the same by insides are different than a Military surplus. Repros are less than a Mini 14 usually, the Military ones can be more.

Unless you take them apart and compare they function and act the same.

The 30 Carbine is not a very powerful round for a rifle.

I have asked this before, but never got a complete answer. Why co-witness sights. Isn't it better to have the optic on a QD mount and simply remove it when it fails.

In the end one of the main points to have a non-magnifying red-dot is to have open FOV to sides and also under the point of impact. And co-witnessing will completely remove this advantage.

In AR's it is somewhat ok idea with BUIS, but I think keeping BUIS up all the time is again counter-productive, and when keeping them down it is faster to open single lever QD mount than flip up two sights.

Then again, speed shouldn't be an issue as if the target is in dangerous range it is possible to shoot instinctively, and if there is range there is time to remove the scope anyway.

Jippo: I think it boils down to personal preferance. Some like it, some don't. I don't, millions do.

    Jippo,

There are a million and one thing that can go wrong with your equipment. anything that fails, i immediately go to my secondery with a CQB enviroment. or a threat is in the immediate area, I would ghost ring my shot using the frame of the EOTech or Aimpoint. but out in the perimeter, I might have some time, I would just flip up the iron so I can make a bit longer shot.

some times, you have shots that just don't allow you the time to remove the sight. like EOTech 553, it has two throw lever, Aimpoint with the LaRue mount the lever should be as tight as humanly possible, those are limitation to emergency removal. I have athreat at my sight out about 75 yrds, I rather flip up the iron then remove the sight since thge threat might not be there by the time you remove the sight.

Co-witness has its palce, it is just a backup, it is not require, but never hurts to have one.

I don't see a need for a co-witness on a CQB SMG nor is there a need for anything pass 300m on a std AR style rear peep.

a few pictures for your viewing enjoyment.

Ok a exercise, Try shooting with out using sights, Under 75 yards.. not a big thing. Every sighting device can cause a myopia some worse than others. Myopia means you may not see the threat or friendly.

That looks like the new, lighter SAGE Chop Mod EBR.
I notice a good bit of stock material has been removed from the magwell and trigger group area. Nice!
