Whatever happened to the Glock with the polymid grip texture and scalloped slide cuts? Was it just a one-off, special edition or something? I've seen very few like that and they don't even list them on the US Glock site.

Those are the RTF (rough textured frame) Glocks. The earlier production ones had the scalloped "Fish Gill" serrations on the slide. The latter production ones were changed to the standard serrations because people were complaining about them. The RTFs aren't being produced in mass quantities anymore since current sales of them are restricted to blue-label only (LE agencies and Gov) because customers complained about the texture being too rough (and low demand). Ironically, since that happened, demand for them went back up. It's like with the OD framed Glocks. When they were available, no one really cared for them, but when they were discontinued, morons were willing to pay up to $700+ for a used one.

That RTF isn't my primary carry piece (I do AIWB) because it's pretty abrasive. The times I have, I wrapped it in black hockey tape. I bought this one when my other G19's slide went **** up (Glock replaced it free of charge). This one was a like-new police trade-in I got for $389 last year (with 3 mags and factory night sights). Trade-in G19s (let alone in good condition) are pretty rare, which is why I jumped on this one.

You can still find them used or from old stockpiles that are laying around.

I never understood why they made the fish gills face the way they are. You would have a better purchase if it was facing the other way.

It's more aerodynamic when you 'drive' (or 'push') the pistol forward with the gills facing the way they are.

Joking aside, some say that Glock orientated the serrations in that orientation to aid as a 'forward assist.' Don't know how valid it is...since it kinda does (and doesn't) make sense. I don't care about the visuals of the fish gills, but these serrations are sharper and has more grip than the standard serrations in my subjective opinion.

If you need to push the slide forward, just use the back end of the slide instead of the serrations.

    M&P serrations are deadly.

Yeah, I sold my previous Glock 19 back in 2002 when I moved to Korea, and have regretted it ever since!

I had actually been looking for a Gen 3 for a long time, but could not find one, even used. The couple I saw listed in various forums were sold right away. This one was listed locally, new in the box, for a price I was willing and able to pay.

Agreed...bumping the rear of the slide is what I do....

I like the serrations on the M&P...much better traction than Glock's.

Go for it. I recommend dropping in a gen 3 Glock 17 trigger bar in there. It'll lighten up the pull a little bit since Gen 4 trigger bars are notorious for having a heavier pull...and I like the smooth face vs. the serrated ones.

I will definitely consider that, Kilo! I'm used to the trigger pull on the Gen 2 and 3 Glocks, and would like to stay with that.

I wouldn't worry about that trigger bar though...after you mount that new 552 Eotech on it the weight won't matter.

The Eotech is for my Ruger Single-Six.

I hate my crappy sling and I need to find a 2 point sling to utilized my CTR Stock or my Daniel Defense loop mounted on my rail. The ambidextrous rear sling loop is useless with the single point sling for many reasons, mainly that it rubs up against the rifle. I need to find something different. Am i the only one who find sling setups quite difficult to decide upon? So many options out there and looking for something that is going to drop to my side without much barrel sway to the feet.

Those look like good slings. IIRC, I briefly used something like that on a FN SCAR 17 a few weeks ago, and liked it.

I also like the Israeli 2-point slings. Easy to find on EBay and average around $15.00 + shipping.

Yesterday, I swapped out my 18" Sabre Defence barrel with a 14.5" (pinned) Noveske on my Noveske N4. (Thanks, Meinteil!!!!!!). Incredible difference. I liked the Sabre Defence barrel, but with this new 14.5" the balance and handling characteristics are much better. Can't wait to shoot it.

I also replaced the Vortex SPARC with an Eotech 552 (Thanks, Meinteil!!!!). Will post pics soon......

.......oh, and I picked up my Gen4 Glock 19 yesterday as well....
