Yes. We don't have laws regarding SBRs per se. If a firearm's total length falls under 26", it is considered a restricted firearm. You need a restricted possession and acquisition license to buy them, which is really easy to get. Some firearms, like handguns and AR-15s, are classified as restricted by default because they are "scary". Restricted guns are limited for range trips only.

Other guns like AKs and all its variants (excluding two Valmet variants), Dragunovs, Benelli M3s, SPAS-12s, full-auto weapons, etc. are prohibited firearms. You need a prohibited license. They stopped giving those in the mid-90s.

Vz.58s/CZ-858s/FSN-01s with the longer barrels or fixed stocks are non-restricted and you can go hunt with them if you want. This particular Vz.58 that I bought has an 11.75" barrel and a folding stock. It's under 26" total so it's considered a restricted firearm. It's a range queen.

    Nice. ^

Seems like there's a trend away from all the unneccessary "tacticool" stuff, and more KISS, which I like.

That means a lot to me coming from a guy with impeccable taste in firearms like you.

Not to mention I don't ever see a situation where I would have a PEQ box or anything like that on one of my rails.

How many rounds is your magazine limited to (10 rounds?) in Canada......I see a rivet on the mag in your photo, is that to limit the amount of loads?

We are limited to 5 round magazines for semi-automatic centrefire rifles and 10 rounds for handguns. Some rifles use magazines that were developed for handguns, including the Canadian-famous LAR 10 round pistol magazines that were meant for use in an AR-15 pistol, but works in any AR-15, thus making it legal.

That's an interesting conundrum. Would you accept the ability to have a greater selection of exotic weapons if your mags were limited to 5 and 10 rounds. Coming from a highly restrictive US state I might be tempted to say yes.

I didn't pick the name for the rifle, but as you can see it's just a few inches
longer than a standard Crazy Horse M14 even with the suppressor installed.
