Does anyone here have anything bad to say about CZ 455? I've been thinking of getting one.
I got the CZ 455 Lux a few months back, and like it very much. Just one thing, if you are going to shoot with a scope, the Lux has a lower comb on the stock which makes getting a good cheek weld a bit trickier. But then using the iron sights is very easy and comfortable. The American and Varmint are better if using a scope.
The interchangeable barrels for .22 and .17hmr is sweet too, haven't done it yet but definitely will.

On Monday I went into one of the local custom gun-shops and ordered myself a nice .308 bolt. McMillan A5 stock, trued Remington 700 action, Rock Creek 24" barrel. Still working on which trigger. Gonna throw on a Nightforce NXS with 20moa rail.
Ought to be in by Christmas. No idea what I'm going to do until then!
I dont know. I had to leave it at my folks house in seattle since the TSA would not have liked it as carry on. Its a 5 shot, which leads me to believe it is a .38.

.38 S&W. It was a popular round in the break open pistols, same with .32s that James mentioned.
Equivalent to power as a .380. It is not a .38 special short. Shoots the same bullet, but case diameter is different. The British used .38 S&W in a number of their service pistols 380200.. something like that is the designation. 38 caliber 200 grain bullet.
From what i understand it became the Brit .38 in WW2

No problem, I have a couple of those Brit pistols, I really like them. I had a old Smith that I sold. The actions are not meant for heavy loads. One reason we don't see them anymore.
How does that Midwest Industries rail handle the heat? My Ultimak heats up pretty fast, usually too hot to touch within the first mag.
It handles it adequately... any metal fore end will have some heating issues. For me, a few mags would get it pretty hot. Having the LaRue covers help a lot, it's warm to the touch even after sustained fire during a class or range visit.
The benefit I see with the MI rail over the Ultimak is removing as much heat away from the optic as possible. The top cover on the MI rail isn't touching the gas tube at all. Only one tradeoff with the top cover is it preventing "easy" removal of the gas tube for cleaning.
You can't remove the gas tube for cleaning on the Ultimak, not without losing zero. Having said that, I'm using a Primary Arms Micro Dot for the moment, until I can afford an Aimpoint H-1; there have been times where the optic itself has been too hot to touch, with no loss of function/zero. I've pumped maybe 3,000 rounds through the rifle since installing the Ultimak/Micro Dot setup; for $70, it's been worthwhile. My main concern isn't actually the optic (apparently, they're rated for the heat), but rather burning myself should I grip the rifle wrong.
