Thanks, yeah the amount of cosmoline on it was atrocious, but it looked a lot better once all of it (or most of it, since I now know there's some still in it, lol!) got off.
all the 24/47's i've ever handled have just been inundated in cosmoline so i've never actually worked a clean one lol, tried to clean one up the other night when i was bored and i think i got brain damage from stuff i was using. i have 3 at work right now and all are in good condition. nice gun man.

I bought it from a local gunshow, not sure..could very well be a Century re-sell
Bravo on wanting to refinish your gun stock. I have a mosin and a few enfields that I refinished, and something you might want to try is (for the fisrt coat of tung oil) do a 3-to-1 ratio of mineral spirits to low gloss tung. This simply allows the tung oil to work itself deep into the center of the wood, making the stock slightly stronger and water-proofing it from the inside out. Afew days later, drop it to 2-to-1, 1-to-1, and then just straight tung oil. All this should help any slight warping of the wood during different humidities and temperatures, also. I'll try to get my pic of my mosin up, but you're starting to put together a very nice gun collection. Best of luck with the restoration.
That's a real beautie...btw, what kind of mat is that under your ruck?
I need to get something better than this foam crap I have...
just some POS I bought at Big 5. works better than that foam **** thats issued though
sweet piece BK
Whats the model BK, is that a colt??
sweet , I was looking at those before I went with my oly arms. What type of warranty did they give you with it??
Thanks for that info, I appreciate it.
I slightly reassembled the gun last night because I wondered how it would look with a non glossy stock, and I really dig it. Hopefully the Easy off will help lighten it up by getting some cosmoline out of the wood in some areas, other than that it almost looks great just as it is. Kind of "military" looking.
My only real concern is to get the handguard matching with the stock, IIRC the majority of these M24s have mis-matched handguards
No! I have not! And I want one! And they are VERY expensive here in Holland! For a mint condition 1903A3 with C-stock, we have to pay approx. USD 2100,- for one rifle! For example, my in mint condition 1963 vintaged TRW M14 costed approx. USD 1500,- with mint walnutstock and new TRW barrel!
BTW, I don't know how to post pics,
but I own also an 1942 Springfield M1, 1943 IBM M1 Carbine (both also in new condition), a Bushmaster XM-15 Hbar, almost NM accurized, and a Walther PP pistol in 7,65mm.
Greets,
Roger
