You have the "castle" law there in Texas if I am not mistaken?

Over here if I were to hurt an intruder in any way, let alone shoot him/her the cops would charge/arrest me!!!

With Texas self defense laws you don't really need a castle law but yes we have it. If you shoot a robber or burglar especially at night they would give you the benefit of a doubt.

BTW, it is a friend's gun that he brought to the range this past weekend in 110 degree heat.
Years ago I had a colleague who wanted something like this. He brought a bullet to work once. It was machined from solid copper and had a wicked point on the tip. Are they still like that?

In Texas you can shoot a man just for looking at you wrong.

I also believe that you can easily get a permit to carry a conceled gun in Texas?

Anybody know if this stands true for NY? I know we don't have a castle law, and that a victim's family can thus sue you for hospital charges and such if they wish so, but what are the penalties for using a gun in self defense in NY?
IMO, there should be none, but with some of the people up in Albany, you never know.

Same requirements in Oregon, + pass a criminal background check.

The license can be revoked if it's abused.

By the way, Obama has called for making state-issued concealed hangun licenses illegal. That, and the fact that he wants to ban the sale of "automatics" (I assume he means "semi-autos"), means that he lost this Democrat's vote.

Sorry to infuse politics in this thread, but I just thought I's mention it, since we're on the topic of concealed permits.

In Washington, just apply, background check, and tada, you have a CCW, good for 5 years, then you just renew, cost $55.25, I waiting for my permit to come in the mail take up to 30 days.

Can't say I'm surprised, though it's a first to hear that though. The thought of it annoys the hell out of me though.

SMGLEE, that Windrunner is one hell of a beefy rifle. Very nice indeed. Does it come in only one finish? Or does it come in different colored finishes as well?

So...i was was working on my mossberg/ putting a ATI pistol grip stock on it and i somehow screwed the pooch and ****ed up the stock screw hole...and after disassembling it to see what was up i also ****ed up part of the trigger housing. i have no idea what went wrong i've stripped dozens of mossbergs...this is weird. oh well i'm gonna contact Mossberg customer service tomorrow, see what they can do. hopefully its not too expensive.

well...it may be time to finally break down and get an 870.
