Oooooh ok, thanks for the document Hollis! I've never read it until now, and it does make sense. I thought it was strange that a jury would find him guilty at first.

On a side note, I do cringe a little bit at the whole incident though, because a few years back, I was running a Ceinar .22 conversion bolt in my friend's CMMG lower with DPMS upper. When the old .22 magazine lips were slightly deformed (where the lips were wider), it sometimes fires a 2 round burst. This happened a few times until I fixed the magazine, but I had no idea that it was "illegal" at the time. Shortly after, the bolt itself FUBAR'ed, as the firing pin somehow fell out. We got the bolt used, so I guess that would explain part of it.

Oh, and I've already sent it back to Cienar for then to get it refurbished, and it shoots like a champ...provided it's cleaned often.

22's are not a rifle caliber. slam fires, open bolt fix firing pins work on some pistols and 22's. That is because of chamber pressures. Rifle cartridge require a bolt locking system and a delay in releasing the bolt, to allow chamber pressures to bleed off. A slam fire on a AR will probably destroy the rifle, as I mentioned.

Nothing surprising me with CNN, they hate firearms.

Right, got it. Thanks for the quick lesson and clear up Hollis!!

wildcat12, almost everyone in the media hates firearms. And most Democratic politicians too.

Haha, I know what you mean. I was just surprised to find Lou dobbs 'defending' a gun owner. I wonder if he ever found out if that guy actually modified his rifle though. That would be really awkward for him to report.

On a side note, I've decided to paint my AR this weekend. The finish is nice, but I've never liked the all black finish on guns, so it's going to get a nice camo paint job.

You must post pictures, I got 5 firearms to buld, all AR's this year, one will be painted pink for my daughter, 3 are for my son, and one is for the wife. I thinking of duracoating my firearms this pattern

I was thinking this pattern, I painted this knife before I painted My FAL using duracoat.

If the bad guys get that close that you need a camouflage knife, you probably are in deep sh.t

if you buy the sets, you get a 2ozs and 4ozs, then buy themselves you can buy bigger, I never ran out a color, 2oz can easily cover a rifle, and the 4oz you should have half left over, it goes a long way, it has to be airbrushed on though. Guess you could brush paint, you'll use more paint and won't look as good.

So I just bought an old .303 Lee Enfield. Canadian made Ishapor rebuilt though. I like the rifle, I really do but there is some cosmetic damage (which would make sense seeing as how it is a 60 year old rifle) and the rifle doesn't look like it was maintained all that well. What really irks me right now is that I don't know what to expect from the rifle nor can I really trust it (i.e. what if it blows up in my face?). I haven't shot it yet because I still have to clean it but even after I clean it up nicely the rifle still may not be for me. Now, I do have a 30 day warranty on the gun so if theres something wrong with it I can return it by the end of the month which is alright and I'd go with the Tikka that I had originally looked to get (but instead I went impulsively with the Lee Enfield, bad move I know). Which rifle would you guys have gone with, the .303 Lee Enfield from the '40s or a .308 Tikka T3 Lite from now? I just want to see where you guys would stand on this.

P.S. Sorry for the thread derail, I can make this into its own topic I just thought I'd get the most help from here. Sorry, and thanks!

No problem, I think that is part of what this thread is about. If your unsure, have a competent gunsmith check it out. I have a Isaphor about that age in .303 and a newer one in .308.

Also there are some forum that completely deal with venerable rifles.

hey Hollis, if you don't mind my asking, how does your .303 shoot? Does the age of the rifle have any adverse effects on it?

How do you Like the .22 kit. I have been debating on it. I seen one here in MD last week for a good deal and passed it up. With .223 getting up there it seems like a great solution to save some dollars and still shoot the AR often. Guys love these kits out there and they are getting scarce. Kilo have you noticed any changes with rifleing of the Barrel after using the kit?
