PG18, nice looking rifle. I would never move to Commiefornia.

Do you have to remove the pistol grip, before you take it out PG?
Why do you have a mag-pul on a fixed mag?
General rule of thumb with Enfields is if you are unsure, have a competent gunsmith go over it and check the headspace as well as how the bore is. The condition of the wood is often disregarded unless there is major cracking. The reason for this is that there is a healthy community out there that is all for restoring the rifles with a large focus on refinishing the wood. Two sites to check out if you plan on keeping the rifle are http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/ and http://www.milsurps.com/
Personally if the Enfield checks out and has no major issues such as a shot out barrel, I would keep and Enfield and forget about the Tikka. The 303 round will take down game from deer to moose, to elk to black bear as long as you do your job regarding bullet placement. Besides, every Canadian should have an Enfield in their locker![]()
Alright, just as I promised, I finished today on the 4th of July. 80% was done in about 25 minutes, so this was a fairly quick job. The rest of time was spend painting the other parts (light, BUIS, etc). I have a lot of pictures, so please excuse the space being wasted. After seeing the painted guns thread on Arfcom and M4carbine.net, I finally decided to get off my lazy arse and get it done with it today.
Before: The finish was great (except for a few scratches on the lower), but I've always planned on painting this M4gery service carbine a while back.
Hardest part: The realization there's no turning back at this point.
After:
The molle pouch was in the brighter DCU pattern and colors, so I toned it down by spraying it as well.
Colors used:
I didn't paint the RAS itself, as I didn't want the barrel and gas tube inside of it to get painted. Likewise, if I ever do decide to remove the paint, it'll be a lot easier to do so without the RAS being painted as well.
AR15bare bone's generally composed of:
Rock River Arms lower
Stag Arms 16in upper
Knight's Armament Co. RAS
Matech BUIS
Random carry handle bought from CTD a year and half ago.
I'm glad to say, I finished this build in under $1K, not counting all the mags I bought for it as well.
WITH THE No.4MK1 I can smoke **** out to 600 yrd, no problem.Besides, every Canadian should have an Enfield in their locker []
PS i'm Canadiian![]()
Thanks! After seeing your painted FALs, that also helped me make my decision to go with it (though it's not digi cam).
Haha, thanks. Sensei, I learned some things from you years back earlier...use ferns, and use the right colors, lol.
Thanks guys.
gosh damit kilo, why oh why, that's it, see what you have done now
when my inlaws leave, I going to town on my bushmasters, going to upgrade it to a piston and a 4 point forward handguards, then it time for the duracoat. BTW this is not one of the 5 other AR I commit to build. you see I have 4 kids and the wife was in the Army too. So we need one each, my eldest daugter is 4 and she love pink so, I promised to paint her a pink rifle. I have triplets boy, they are 20 months old, and they will get an AR this year, next year I will purchase a large cabiler upper, maybe 6.8, depends on the cost of ammo, The the misses needs one, hers is the easiest, it will be black, A2 stock, look like an M16, but with quick release A3 top. I thinking of sticking with 20" barrels on all of them. just will have better stocks than the A2. All will be painted other than the misses, I expecting to do all for less than $6000 with gas pistons. I looking a DSarms for strip reciever, Bushmaster for Lower parts, and DSarms Gas uppers(POF) or I will see how the bushmaster gas piston system does in my bushmaster, maybe I could do that. It is a big project and the wife given me the go ahead. I having to sell both my mini 14's I got for the boys to funed the purchase of the receivers. My goal is to have it complete in a year. I want one of those fancy pelican cases to store them in. I started getting ammo too, I want my kids to grow up and have there first firearms, hunters safty and ammo, you never know what the political would going to look like so better get it done now.
^^^Does your wife know that she and your 4 kids each need an AR?
Your location kinda gives it away BooneYou're about 360km southwest of me. Haven't really tried the range on my two Enfields. One bubba'ed No3 needs a good clean and checkup from a gunsmith and my P-17 needs its firing pin replaced and a new stock to replace the current one (too heavy and cumbersome for the bush). If I ever go out hunting again I'll be taking my Win 94 in 30-30.
