I guess I should have been specific! I was referring to the long-range snipers. Those Leopolds are nice (and by the way, are built where I live: Beaverton, Oregon).

That's what I want for mine, but due to current economic realities I will probably have to settle for something cheaper for now, such as a Nikon or Bushnell, or maybe a less expensive Leopold, until I can afford to upgrade to something like a Mk IV.

    Nice, JVeld!

That Mk II looks like a nice scope, and a good value.

Unfortunately for me, right now, even $600 is too much (unemployed, with a baby due i February!).

So far, I've probably got about $800 or so to go until I complete my current AR project ( I need most of the lower receiver innards, including match-grade trigger, fore stock, rear iron sights, scope mount, bipod, and charging handle), so it will be a slow process.

Congrats on the baby, is it a boy or girl? These are seriously tough times (economically speaking). If it's a son, you'll have to put more funds on the side for his future rifle, unless you get a daughter who loves to shoot as well.

I finally got off my lazy arse and installed the MIAD grip. Holy cow, I should have picked one up earlier. I learned to shoot with the standard A2 grip, but my trigger finger was cramping up because the default grip positioned my hand too far up to the trigger (I pull with the tip of my finger). The MIAD's back strap allows for more room so my hand sits further back from the trigger.

One down fall with having a wider back strap is the thumb's also going to be sitting further back. Manipulating the selector could be a little trickier. I found this could be alleviated two ways: use the thinnest back strap (gives you the old A2 grip profile again), or use the smooth front strap. This gives your hand more room give it a slight rotation for your thumb to easily reach the selector.

It came with the default 3 bullet storage compartment. This has got to be one of the most random designs I've seen. If one ran out of ammo in a firefight, 3 rounds isn't going to help too much....but I guess it kinda has that "cool" factor to it. Who knows, I might get the optional compartments later on (battery holders, spare bolt and firing pin holder, etc).

Dummy corded my optic to the gun via carabiner ala Israeli style.

I recommend the MIAD grip to shooters who actually goes shooting a lot. Affordable, robust, and ergonomically superior to the old A2 grip. I also finally replaced all the old furniture with KAC and Magpul stuff. This meager evolution's been a year in the making, but I'm pretty happy with it for now.

Thanks buddy! I finally heeded the advice of countless people and got one, and I don't regret it!
So much for an 'evil black rifle'...my brown/camo AR's more like an "enhanced hunting rifle", lol.
