One of the ways to make an AR legal for California is to install a Bullet Button.

It's a simple drop-in piece that replaces the standard magazine release.

The only difference being that in order to drop your mag, you have to use the tip of a bullet/small tool/small pointed object to depress the small button inside. Since it technically requires a "tool" to remove the magazine, according to CA law it is not considered a "DETACHABLE MAGAZINE" hence not evil, hence CA legal.

It's sorta g*y, but not really a big deal. I just have to put up with it for the next few months. That magazine is also CA legal, having a 10-round capacity in a 20-round magazine body (the stubby 10-rounders look too goofy).

    Speaking of California:

This is the other way; the MMG grip for which I get tons of grief over on this board. I don't mind using it when bench shooting. My only complaint is that you can not engage the safety with your firing hand when it is installed.

Why'd you go the MMG route?

You can't have any fun features!

I admittedly hadn't keep up with California's infringements to the Constitution. USMC Tanker, Thanks for the explanation. I forget how bad our brothers out there on the left coast have it when it comes to our Constitutional Rights.

It's a modular system, things are added and removed as needed.

    Yeah, GG&G Dominator-1, 16".

I'm not sure how she shoots yet, but I'll find out Saturday.

A buddy bought the same upper in 14.5" with the same compensator. I'm trying to finaggle a trade, to permanently attach the Surefire muzzle brake. The 16" is too long as it is.

    What?

If I put that Surefire muzzle brake on my 16", it'd almost be 18" long.

    Nice AR, USMC Tanker!

It doesn't look as Califorgay as LAWBs.

Are you guys allowed to add an ambi selector switch? It'll make using the selector much easier with that monster grip.
