nice!, has anyone used the Tapco polymer stock with the retractable stock for the SKS?
im either going to leave it plain jane or go with one of those.
Can you please identify scope and mount on this picture?
Thanks.
I tend to leave things as issued. One reason, is that in later years they will hold their value. How many venerable military rifles fell prey to sporterization? Money spent to change them + the cost of the rifle only to be worth a few $200 later why the original is worth more that 4 times that. (example is on a P17 or 03)
I have two pre-pre ban SKS, they are worth more the way they are.
Then again, it is really up to the owner. In the long run, IMHO, if a person wants a AR style rifle then a AR would be the best buy.
Many of the long guns and even handguns I have were bought some years ago. One time, I went to a gun show and it was about March of the year, I found a neat "last ditch" Japanese rifle, captured, no import stamp on it and the chrysanthemum NOT ground off, in really nice condition. Even had the last ditch bayonet (minus the frog) with it. I looked at the price and was surprised to see it was so low. I started talking to the guy and he was having tax problems with the IRS and need dough to pay his taxes. So, long story short, I got the great old Japanese rifle and bayonet for a song, because the timing was "right" for buyers, just prior to April 15th, tax time. Same thing happend with the Chinese Nagant rifle I bought, it had been "messed with" as had new finish on it, but looked nice and got it for 50 bucks from a guy who was selling guns to pay taxes. So...sometimes it helps to have a pocket full of money at a gun show just before April 15th...you never know what you will find.
From what I have heard over time was that, the importers got what they wanted from China, it they wanted cheap they got cheap. It was really a buyer's beware market. I was at a friends the other day, he had one of those Chinese super cheap SKS........ All I could say, is junk. Canada still import Norinco stuff, people up there seem to like it.
Here it is...
