    I've used WD40 alot on guns and knives without problems. Works good on some finishes. Gets the dirt out of parkerized weapons pretty well.

    Hell, I was on vacation at the beach, and in a pinch I used olive oil.

    It seemed to have worked REALLy well...

    Nah, I've pretty much stopped cooking with anything but butter (if I am feeling sinful) or olive oil.

    Didn't like the idea of using the butter.

    Olive Oil is the best stuff, Butter is a great flavoring. Maybe we need a cooking section. I have used olive oil as preservative and lubricate with good results. Preservative for wooden cooking implement's, and lubricate faucets. Won't go rancid or make you sick.

    RKKA soldiers used sunflower seed oil to lubricate their weapons - apparently, it has the lowest freezing temperature of any oil. I've read it performed rather well in the Winter of '41 when a functioning weapons suddenly became hard to come by
