Great pics, He. Thx for sharing!

I thought the Mungos were brought back to Germany cause the Mungos proved incapable of sustaining the harsh terrain and road conditions of Afghanistan? Any info on upgrades etc.??

Besides, what's going on with the CH53s? They were supposed to get .50 cals like half a year ago. How come they are nowhere to be seen?

Isn't it true for at least our CH 53s? I think I can remember something like that being said by a Norwegian officer from the QRF some months ago.

    No, it's not.
It has been claimed during Harekate Yolo II, when the CH53s returned to MES during the night for technical checkups and service and thus where not availible to support ground operations. There was no FARP set up during the operation, so the helicopters had to fly to MES.
The reason for the helicopters returning to MES at night was not generally known to the ground troops, which later led to frustration and the claim that German helicopters were not allowed to fly after dark in general. That claim has been proven wrong in the past.

Still, the overall availibility of the choppers is anything but good.

First of 40 planned GA versions planned in 2010.

Afghansitan war began in 2001 - 8 years and no tactical helicopters in reserve. sad
