A buddy of mine commanded a Marder (A3 though) for one and a half years... when he learned about the first real missions of the Bock he told me quite enthusiastically that this was the only vehicle he'd volunteer to take to Afghanistan - as soon as it would get an air conditioning system.

...with which the vehicles deployed to Afghanistan are seemingly still not equipped, by the way. This is nuts, the first Marder was sent to that country almost two years ago.

What the heck is an Urinella, please?

    You don't need to know.

In case you absolutely want to know, it's a piece of paper which allows the gals to take a leak without having to squat down. The thing looks like a coffee filter (minus the aroma pores, of course), the purpose is to redirect the pee to where it would go when you were taking a piss while standing.

Was on "Quatsch Comedy Club" as the "Fundstück der Woche" quite some time ago...as I said, "yuck!".
Now, skip the Urinella, back to Marders and dust and stuff.

if you have to take off the body armour in a dingo, whats about marder, fuchs, fennek and any other armoured vehicle down there?

if its true that your armour breaks your neck while IED impact, than it would be in every vehicle... but i always only hear it for dingos...
    btw is that true?

and for better firepower, what about deploying leopard 1 tanks to a-stan, theyre obiously light enough for the roads because we have the leopard 1 based recovery tank (bergepanzer 2) already down there...
i am sure we have some of the old leopards stored somewhere...

Sorry but that sounds like a bundeswehr urban legend (scheißhausparole) akin to the G 36 nerve shock and the "nato bremse" of the MG3.

But I didn't serve for 10 years now so I don't know. And since it was in the navy I never wore body armor at all, only a life west

I was told and my friend told me you can't wear the body armor inside the Dingo because you don't fit into the narrow Recaro seats. But I said to my friend I would prefer to sit uncomfortable and be safer dismounting under fire.
The people who BTDT might teach the others in Germany that there is more important stuff then fitting in a seat. And maybe I'm on the wrong track.

I've sat with an IDZ vest in a Volkswagen T4 van for like ten minutes and my back started to hurt already. It's kinda bulky and I don't think you can easily sit inside a vehicle for a longer while when you're having all addons attached to it.
I wouldn't want to do mounted patrols with it.

That being said, many of them wear it anyway so it seems to work out somehow.
