How do you know he's a Fernspäher? Could also be Feldjäger CP for instant etc
Okay, it is PERHAPS a Fernspäher. Because of his bag and his pimped G36, I saw guys like him as Fernspähers. But you are right, could be a MP too, because of his black Vest. But he is not a normal soldier

What's the story behind this picture?

    Great pics seventy6er & others!

Question for you Germans. I saw several MP7s, are they being issued to MPs or what?

MP7 is in the process of replacing the MP2 (Uzi) as part of the IdZ program - I guess that Feldjäger are just the first who got them (better than the MP5k)

That was so they wouldn't stand out among a base full of Rangers.

Indeed. And very obvious, too. I did not pay attention.

    I like your humour, BTW.

oh, and for the other pic, I mixed up: I typed !! when I meant ??
I meant that this gesture, by a German soldier, without context, can evoke different meanings for different people.
Oh well, it is the nature of the beast, on the net, to get answers at all levels. From finesse and humour to ... the others on the other side.

*cough* Not if they paid attention in class - they would know that the right arm is usually the troublesome....

And the hand is positioned in a different way.

The picture shows a simple "Out of the way!" gesture.

Do they issue two different patterns or is it the light that makes them look like that?

    Light.

But no two BDU's look the same, some look more worn off or washed-out than another.
