    Default Knives...

I am interested in knives and was wondering what are good ones to look at. I am just messin around with one I picked up at Walmart for 7$. Its a "Winchester". I may go back and buy the other obe for 8$ because it looked decent and I can flick that one out. So what are some good knives to look into?

how "moderatley priced"? 7 and 8 dollars is nothing for a knife, a good one will cost many times that. For relativley cheap knifes though, look into schrade. For more money, gerber makes good knives, i've heard buck knives are good too. Don't forget about the swiss army knives from victorinox and wenger.
I have a victorinox knife, and a gerber air ranger, both are good enough for the camping and what not i do, but the gerber is an absolute b#@*% to sharpen

For pretty well priced and pretty good quality knives you can try some Columbia River Knives

oh yes.. CRKT knives are great , i have M16-12Z that i got at the last gunshow i went to for about 35 dollars. Its a great flipper with awesome blade. one thing i like about this knife is the locking mechanism, it makes it really easy to flip the blade out and lock it in the same motion. i recommed it! very good for the price.

A great site with quick shipping and good service is www.knifeworks.com

As for brand names, Spyderco, CRKT, Gerber, Kershaw, Boker, Emerson, Strider, Benchmade. Any of those is a great start, Emersons, Striders, and Benchmades however are 100+ dollar knices. I would say get yourself either a CRKT or a Spyderco to start with they both make excellent knives for the price.

7$? at that price and at a Walmart its most likely crappy steel and made in China, if you want one for more than just cutting rope and feeling cool go for something in the double digits of price.

Got a CKRT m-16 a good while ago now and it has seen me through plenty.

Been on operation two palces around the world with totally different terrain and climates and has performed excellent.

Not to mention I'm not standard infantry, so I use the knife abit more then most guys.

My reccomendation is CRKT, you seriously can' go wrong, especially with their garuntees.

They might be abit more expensive, but its worth it.
The flipper on my knife broke and they sent me out a whole new one!!

PrincessRAR, what CRKT do you own? I've been considering the M16-14SF.

    Check out Spyderco and Benchmade.

    Spyderco Delica or Endura.

    Benchmade Griptilian or Mini Griptilian

Best place to get them: Newgrahamknives.com

Benchmade Griptilian. It will cost you about 50 dollars, but it is good for beginners because it's AXIS lock is foolproof and almost impossible to break. This way, you don't lose any fingers. I would suggest the full sized with a half and half blade, the D2 blade. It retains and sharpens well, but I suggest you start practicing sharpening on cheap kitches knives.

COLD STEEL. Watch their DVD called Proof. Then ask the other makers to try it with their knives.
Theres more to knives than "looking cool", edge strength and retention, point thoughness. Strength of the locking mech, all these are more important than looks. For the price Cold Steel is tops.
Just my 2 cents worth..... after using Cold Steel for about 11 years.

    SOG knives = amazing.

I've got three, a SEAL knife, Flash 1, and Trident.

They've got this thing called SAT, which is basically switchblade loop hole. Give the stud a slight touch and it opens automatically.

They'll cost you a pretty penny though, prepare to spend at least $50, and that's assuming you do some good shopping.

    M16-14M.
Its the full size standard M16 model.
It's been with me since I've been in the spt coy teams, and now in another spt coy with which I use it more.

For money to quality dont buy anything else...although in the end its your knife!!
