Actually, that's not the case. Weapon is a part of our culture...but it IS so much part of the culture, it often causes problems. The authorities tries to change this from being just a "culturel" thing to a controlled weapon ownership similar to the ones in the other countries that manages this.. When you look into the gun laws of Turkey, there is no restrictions for its citizens owning a weapon:
"1) 21 Yaşını doldurmuş olan ve silah ruhsatı almasında mani hali bulunmayan her Türk vatandaşı, bulundurmak maksadıyla silah satın alabilir"
Translation: Any Turkish citizen who fullfils the age of 21 and has no problems for owning a weapon (i.e criminal and mental record), can own one.
But there are restrictions on CCW
