According to the various news sources, there are no conscripts among these soldiers...they're all officiers and NCOs. Chief of Staff was talking about these kind of reformation in fighting against PKK while ago and I think this is the first time we see it being realized (except the use of SF in some operations). The goal is not to use conscripts in these areas any longer in the very near future. Good move I think.

How many professional soldiers are there in Turkish Army?

I remeber reading in newspapers in 2008 that one in five soldiers in the land forces was a professional soldier that would make the count at around 100,000 profesional soldiers, with the recent reforms this figure has hopefully changed. As recently six commando brigades of about 10,000 soldiers has gone Professional.

Btw i believe more than 100.000 right now cause only Maroon Berets size rise to Corps size at 2006 decisions.
