British Army in Northern Ireland Pics
I am interested in pictures of British Forces in Northern Ireland as well as pictures of the Irish Republic armed forces on duty in the border area.
Any time period from 1969 will do, any branch, any regiment. Thank you.
To start, two pics of the currently used "snatch" Land rovers also called Armoured Patrol vehicles. These are now also used in Iraq.

A platoon = 2 multiples, one under the command of the platoon commander and the other under the command of the Pn Sgt, correct ?
And a multiple is 3 teams (or "bricks" for the old timers...)...still correct ?
GPMGs were often carried then in that area of Tyrone at the time ? any Bren LMGs left then ?
Oh, very intressting. I used to live in Dungannon for a couple of month. I remember that one of my friends told me that the Scotch Street in Dungannon is one of the most bombed streets in the world. Correct about the multiples.
We were based in a mainly rural area, so GPMGs were carried, two per multiple.
The LMG had been phased out by 1992 (unfortunately). Great gun.
The SAS used the GPMG to good effect during our tour.
The IRA had driven up to Coalisland police station and fired on it from an armoured truck with a DShK mounted on it.
They had their fun spoilt by the SAS as they RV'ed to swap vehicles. Four terrorists killed, two wounded.
