That's pretty decent financially. Compare it to a lot of clubs, like Spurs for example who i'm sure have made a massive loss over the years on transfers.

The problem is Liverpool have established themselves as a selling club. Making money on transfers is an ambition of mid-table/lower league clubs, not a great club like Liverpool. They should be keeping players like Alonso and Mascherano, or at least replacing them with quality players. As it stands they've sold these players to pay off debt, which is a sad situation for one of the world's greatest clubs.

That's exactly their problem. They've relied of having one good player in each position for years now. Reina-Carragher-Gerrard-Torres. When a couple get injured or lose form, they're screwed. The rest of their squad seems to be an afterthought. If they lose Torres, their only striker is Ngog! There's no way they can compete with the top 5 like that.

I'd put Kuyt on that list before Carragher. Not the best player in the world, but turns out to be a key-player again and again.
