    Borgetti signs with Bolton

Mexico striker Jared Borgetti completed his move to Bolton Wanderers when he signed for the English Premier League club on Friday.

"I can't wait to get started," Borgetti, Mexico's all-time joint record goal scorer, told Bolton's official website after passing a medical and signing a two-year contract.

The transfer fee for Borgetti, the first Mexican to join a Premier League club, from Mexico's Pachuca has been reported at around $NZ2.5 million.

"I will take three weeks off to rest and be ready to make an impact on the Premiership," said the 31-year-old, who has played more than 60 matches in the last year.

However, Borgetti is expected to be named on Friday in Mexico's squad for their Concacaf zone World Cup qualifier at home to Costa Rica on August 17.

"This is a great honour for me to play for Bolton Wanderers in the strongest league in the world," added Borgetti, known as 'The Desert Fox'.

Borgetti, a member of Mexico's 2002 World Cup side, has scored 35 goals for Mexico, equalling the record held by Luis Hernandez and Carlos Hermosillo.

I hope he plays well in Europe. He is one of the best players in Mexico.

    I'm half Austrian.

Sidenote: The players of Moscow were pretty arrogant before the game, saying it will be a cakewalk, because Rapid has no style of play, no depth and no defense.

oooh i just saw Liverpool lost in Sofia, but they're still thrue.

Great choice of team, Bolton have an excellent manager, Sam Allerdyce.

Despite being a Tottenham fan, I find myself more interested in watching Bolton most of the time.

Same happened with Steaua. They were so bloody confident but the team captain played like ****, allowed 2 goals and scored an own-goal.

    Better luck next year

    Just some thoughts:

    a) Real Madrid is going to win. We have Rosenborg and Olympiakos in the same group (only Porto left) . In the last 3 titles we have won we always had one of those 3 teams (if not the 3 ) in the same group. ( I hope Rosenborg is second in that group).

    b) Villareal is going to reach at least quarterfinals.

    c) Inter and Arsenal are the most overrated clubs in the history of football (btw, group B is a joke)

    d) Group E is the ****. It's going to be really interesting to see them play

    e) Bayern vs Juve is also going to be one of the greatest games this year, you can't miss it. (Go Bayern!)

And last but not least, Barça will play great football, will be first in their group, but will be defeated in the next round and will whine about how Real Madrid is helped by the referees, how UEFA benefits Real Madrid and of course will talk about how important is the Spanish league, rather than Cahmpions legue just because they can't stand the fact that Real Madrid is way better than them.

PD : Foxtrot, i'm sorry mate, but you have to accept the truth.

    Amen to that!

You can stop Arsenal by simply defending deep. Their only great ability is their speed in the counter-attack.

Yeah most interesting is group E. Eindhoven, Fenerbahçe, Schalke and Milan. When a turkish team plays at Schalke they could easily draw 60.000 turks from the surrounding area and fill the arena if they would get tickets. A hot game. I like Eindhoven and hope Milan will struggle.

Last year Bayern Juve was a bit boring because of Juve. They play sooo... italian (=boring). And my 5 cents: Roy Makaay is the purest striker right now in europe in my opinion! I really can't stand Bayern but when they get far it's more like they represent the Bundesliga and that's a reason to be for them in later stages.

pffft, Real Madrid are nothing without referee help. You have a descompensated team (just look, Owen is at the bench), poor defense (except San Casillas), just wait and see what happens

BTW, nobody has mentioned the feared Group G, the groups of Death.

You forget ivan Helguera! About Owen, well, i think there are better players than him. Who would you substitute? Raul? Zidane? Ronaldo?
Hard choice.... Btw, all my support to Gravesen, not a "galactico" but the best player in Real Madrid.

And yes, group G is very interesting too. Betis is a great unknown outside Spain but i'm not sure if they are prepared for a good performance in Champions league, i hope i'm mistaken.
