Default looking for some opinions of Rock River Arms

    Hello,
Just looking for some info and comments on this company, the sales guy said they have a lot of government contracts, produce a better AR16/M4 than Colt does (as well as other mfgs) and are considered one of the best manufactures of such weapons.

Anyone have insight or experience with this company and its products? I personally haven't heard of them, but it has been a few years since I was in the market for one.

I will be looking to purchase the lower CAR A4, with the quad rail foreguard and mine would have the detachable top sight (not shown).

My ex-brother-in-law bought his weapon (I can't remember which one) from Rock River Arms and had a wonderful experience with them. He's on the county's SWAT team and wanted quality. His brother has a Bushmaster and the RRA seems to be a little better quality, IMHO. The RRA seems to have a little less rattle and Scott's put quite a few rounds through his RRA. I, personally, don't have any experience with them. Just 2nd hand.

I bought a Bushy and love it. But, I've heard only good things about the RRA rifles. You can expect to be bombarded by the Colt fanboys, but check out www.ar15.com. There is an incredible amount of information available there for AR-15s.

RRA have a contract with a Guberment Agency, that should say heaps about the company.
From what I have read, they are up there with the A(rmalites)B(ushmasters) C(olts) so I would buy with confidence.
I'm getting the new AR bug again, and I have a crazy idea about building a 9mm, which I noticed RRA make an upper in

RRA rifles are fine. Make sure you get one with a chrome lined barrel. Also skip the heavy barrels.

RRA pissed off a bunch of people a few years back when they sold a bunch of flat top uppers that had an out of spec picatinny rail. RRA claimed they were made under the new spec. Well, no such "new spec" existed and they were called out on it.

RRA was started by a bunch of disgruntle Armalite employees.

I plan on buying some RRA parts in the future. They make a solid rifle just like Bushmaster, Colt, and Armalite.

Didn't one of the Departments/Agencies (US Govt) get a contract with RRA? Seems like it was DEA.

Just remember RRA like Armalite and many others don't make anything. They just buy parts and assemble them. Bushmaster and Colt both make their own barrels. This isn't necessarily good or bad, just a fact. RRA uses Wilson barrels. They work well.

RRA did get a contract to supply a few rifles to DEA. Just like years ago Bushmaster had a contract to supply a few M4s to the US Army. Companies always try to use this in their advertising as if it's important. All it means to me is that they were the lowest bidder.

I personally have not been back there. My friends at www.cavalryarms.com have been back there many times. Armalite sells the Cavalry Arms plastic lowers under the Eagle Arms name. They also use Cavalry Arms furniture.

The DEA has RRA carbines and I heard somwhere that the FBI placed a large order as well.
