[quote=baneslament;1881783]I have some more pics from our training exercise. However, I have to clear them thru my PAO before I release them. Good ones though. Especially the litle yellow submarine(trial version, I dont think they actually ever used it) at the base in Skaramongas. For now these are all I have.

Here we are doping at the range.

Does the Greek Army have any units named after the Spartans? That would be neat...

There are units with the famous Spartan quotes:

The 1st Group of Armies Command

The 2nd Group of Armies Command

These men are not OYK (Hellenic Navy underwater demolition team) operators! They are Z MAK (7th Hellenic Army amphibius unit) members. Check the Hellenic Army's comando PATCH (low-viz) on his left arm.

Greek Commando? Well, don't get excited! He's actualy a journalist / reporter for "STRATIGIKI" military magazine, firing the Colt rifle (as an Army's guest) to the Kandyli firing range, in order to have a first hand opinion before writing a review article for his magazine.

What difference does it make if he's active or in reserve? The fact is that many of us are "keyboard" commandos and he's a reservist! LOL

As for the motocycles, you are right it was a typo, I meant the Amphibious teams of the Army (Z.MAK) and other Army special units.

    Here's my source btw:

Dimitri, I insist to my opinion. A 3rd MAL (I thought that 3rd MAL was finaly disbanded for good on 2004 - Am I mistaken?) reservist SHOULD be a person who has been recently left the army (well... few months to few years) and still fit to do the job. As we all know a 3rd MAL reservist should not be someone who left the army before 15 years (or more). A 3rd MAL reservist should not be selected after "political pressure" (am I mistaken too?) just because his civil job (magazine publisher / journalist) gives him the oportunity to force the leadership to keep his VIP warm jumpseat for him on a "Charlie" once in 5 years or more. Finaly, a 3rd MAL reservist should be in perfect physical shape/fit and be able to run many Kms every day and exercise himself. Participating as a "reservist" (by paying the exact fees & tickets) on international raids or exercises (and keep arriving at the finish line nearly last) doesn't mean that he's also good for the job. Beeing photographed for his own magazine publishing purposes as a "beyond 2000" super-comando operator... doesn't mean that somebody is really a super-comando operator. Is he?

We all (well you are still young and active pro member of GC specops forces) USED to be in the shape our army demands... but not any more. We MAY think or MAY feel like comandos, but doesn't mean that we are still comandos. Are we? I could say that I was one of the lucky bastards who managed to stay into the SpecOps "alley" (we've discused about it few months before - remember?) and keep a daily "touch" with arms, ammo and toys for big boys... but doesn't mean that I'm also the "right stuff" for a 3rd MAL reservist. Right?

    Default @Nicko Karatzide

    I guess you're right man.

Anyway, apart from all this, I need to ask a technical question about this "Colt assault rifle". Is it a version of the M4 Carbine with different barrel and M16A1/A2 butstock or something?

I used to buy Guns and Ammo magazine and I remember selling some "semi" versions of M16, like that one...

    Please enlighten me.
