We don't. It was displayed during Defendory 2006 Expo in Piraeus. It is a candidate for the wheeled ICV program of the Hellenic Army. Personally, I think it would be better to concentrate on tracked vehicles which have better overall mobility and protection.

The Greek Army thinks otherwise. They want to replace all tracked vehicles (even tanks) on the islands with wheeled ones. The total number is about 520 vehicles.

Yep! the wheeled vechicles are better for the small narrow roads of the islands

Manoeuvering a big 8x8 without skid steering in narrow roads is much harder than a tracked vehicle with controlled differential steering, qv the Stryker fiasco in Iraq. 4x4s I can understand, but anything bigger is a liability.

I agree with Dark Avenger. No 8X8 wheeled vehicle has the mobility of small tracked vehicles such as M-113/AIFV, Leonidas, BMD.

I think that's quite obvious. Wheeled armored vehicles may look good in parades and low intensity ops, but they are seriously handicapped by the fact that for a given protection level and carrying capacity they inevitably end up bulkier and heavier than equivalent tracked vehicles. Plus they are inferior in TACTICAL mobility because of greater ground pressure. Let's hope that the Army will resist the "wheeled AFV fashion". BTW, isn't this a Colombian M113A1 that you posted?

Yes it is a Colombian M113

Kudos for Greek-Airborne! WOW!! That Cypriot 290GD is AWESOME!!! But a bit constant with the MG-3. How about an AGL or a heavy machine gun in place of the top MG-3???

On a lighter side, imagine this Couldn't resist the temptation...

PS: Please forgive the rush job...

Dark Avenger, I told you in personal too: You need anti-MP medication & professional phyciatrist assistance!

PS 1: You forgot to paint the wheels.
PS 2: Do NOT paint the wheels. It looks FUBAR already.

I deliberately left out painting the wheels Doing the white rings on MS Paint was too much of a chore, given the photo angle, shadows and stuff... Would make a nice convoy escort, though, not to mention its immeasurable value in heavy traffic, scaring the Bejesus out of other drivers

PS Didn't you hear that medication is bad for the health? I don't particularly fancy taking Prozac or Zanax... I prefer coffee.

[edit] But, since you mentioned it, I made it more "complete" when I got a few minutes of free time here at the office. Funny 290, pt2
