^Not a bad looking Gerber, the thumb ramp and top of blade reminds me of the waki's top.

Havent been to the Gerber site in a long time. The Bear Grills stuff threw me for a loop.

@Taco, yup yup, Walker and i did a little prototype camp/nessmukish blade a while back.

She is a sexy lil thang.

Will say this, the knives you have me make, test my skills to and past the limits. Frustrating at times.

Now get all Gunny on me and tell me to get back to work while throwing a kleenex box.

Right on. But as much as i like to keep it that way. Still, gonna have to get with the times and get some knife making machines sooner or later. Demand has got me stuck in a world of rush to catch up.

And since the local video store, starbucks and BK aint hiring, let alone any real paying jobs. Might as well turn a hobby into something more serious.

some of these knives are so expensive, and I don't really understand why. I've even done some basic research on the different materials used, but I still don't understand spending hundreds of dollars on a knife.

I've rarely used a knife for anything other than opening an MRE or cutting 550 cord on a deployment. I go with a small pocket folder in the 30 dollar range, and a leatherman/gerber multi-tool.

I got a Benchmade once and lost it on a jump, and had a SOG seal Pup that i never used.....

The expensive ones are just for collectors imho. Anyways. They cost so much because people are willing to pay so much for them.
I don't have an urge to possess 10+ knives, but hell. If anyone wants to have gazilion knives just to look at them it's okay. People are collecting far more strange things.

I'll go with that one, I have a leatherman and a CRKT M16 folder but for use on the job I would not even think of carrying a 200 dollar knife. too scared to lose it

The guy I got the inspiration from for my tactical wakizashi charges like $1000 for his pieces. The next time Fork and I work on it...the prototype didn't meet 'ol Pete's standards, it may run about $250-300.

I use a Ł200 knife. Heavy bladed, 12 inch long convex blade.... Its the schnizzle. Shelter building, heavy joint chopping, fire work.. Its good to go. Its partner knife is a small frosts mora at Ł8. Dream combo.

But that will all change when the 25 grand CNC mill and 75 grand CNC plasma cutter comes into the shop. Gonna have to charge 2K a knife after that.

And that in a nutshell is why very simple knives can be very expensive, its not the materials of the knife. (unless its a art knife) And as everything in the consumer world, name brand has a lot to play with the price as well.

For handmade knives, you are paying for the labor, for the most part.
