be glad you got a short M16 and you wont have to sign on a long, heavy Galil in your reserves service...

Now I feel worse. I had both the Galil (which I liked, but I was a Magist so it didn't really matter) and got the triangular grip M-16 on kibbutz. When I lived on Ma'ale HaHamisha there was a kibbutz member who stood guard with his Lee-Enfield. According to him he was never officially mustered out of the British Army because he hadn't accounted for his rifle, and then the Mandate ended.

Nice kombina. I wonder what is matash on lost Lee-Enfield. Brits are probably still looking for his rifle.

    Ugly, but proven!

I would think tankers would get something pretty small like an MP5 or something.

During operations inside cities they usually don't put miznefet (doesn't help much).
The big poofy helmet cover always interested me. Is the IDF the only force that uses it? Doesnt it get in the way? The IDF is a serious force, so I am sure it is effective, it is just strange looking.

IDF tankers today get a sawn off M16.
up untill 3 years ago, they had a Glilon (which is shorter than an M16 when its butt is folded).
in the older days, tankers had the UZI smg with a folding iron stock.
personally, I think it would be best if tankers had a shorter weapon, like a SMG or even a pistol, but because tankers often get "Infentry" duties like patrolling in wheeled vehicles, checkpoints and so on, they are given an assult rifle.
before they switched to the sawn off M16, there were planns on moving to the Micro-Galil, which would be Idle for a tanker, but the chose the M16 instead, probebly due to budget cuts or other list of priorities.

I think only Merkava-4 guys get them, the rest get Glilon.

That style of scrim is unique to the IDF. Other countries such as the UK and Canada use a net and hessian type idea. Just Google 'scrim' and you'll find something for sure.

    Yes, we do!

P.S. Also, I would consider not to post on the Internet the forth picture from the top...
