Carmel Yarok actually does sound familiar, in connection to this topic. That's probably what it was. Besides, a "Brigade" refers to a force of thousands of soldiers.
Yes, I'm sure.
They wanted to volunteer, and they were partly accepted and given some duties (and staff, of course). However there was never such IDF unit Allya btn, nor Allya brd. Some kind of small reservist sniper unit apparently called "Carmel Yarok", comprising of veteran ex-USSR snipers, took part in 2LW and probably in "Cast Lead".
Do you know any office of the Golani brigade, or, let's say, 890th btn?
Office is civilian, military units usually has headquarters in military bases. What about "Gdud Allya" office? Was it in a military base?

Anyway, that's an Israeli sniper. Probably reservist, maybe ex-USSR:
'Cast Lead'
I just want to clear some mistakes... Its true Egoz is under Golani but its more in the budget area and training in its facilities than anything else. Egoz is more north command. I dont know if I can tell more because of opsec. You can say the same about Duvdevan its more central command than paratroopers.
So the new unit being established 'under Givati' would probably be analogous to Egoz and Duvdevan in regards to it being more a part of the Southern Command than, say, Givati?
Not having a high budget is not analogous to having bad gear or lower quality training. The USMC has a much lower budget than other services in the US, yet they are the first ones you would call. Paras have it good with their nice headquarters and soft bunkbeds, while Givati sleep in the dirt and imo they are all the better for it and have proven to be excellent fighters.
Golani is also Northern Command.
Egoz is more Golani than Duvdevan or Maglan is Paratroopers.
There is more to be said about it, and Golani is more than just a sorting body for Egoz.
In this case, the new unit would only use Givati's infrastructures, and gather people from it. Egoz is more than that.
The video is from 2003, but still interesting. It's in Russian with English subtitles.

It was funny to see my former captain there, Roman. We refereed to him as קודקוד סטאלין, or Codcod (commander in radio) Stalin![]()
