Thank you everybody for the kind words I arrived today and I still can't believe it. It all feels like a dream.
Is this a private thing, or part of IDF? I as a "ole hadash" (new immigrant) had two weeks preparation course, but we were already in IDF when we did it, before the basic.

    Trom tironut or Ulpan?

We did a 6 week pre-basic (trom tironut), that combined army prep and ulpan.

Yeah its a private mechina. I am aiming for Gadsar Givati (Palsar, or the new sayeret) so I hope that this will fully prepare me.

Amerikie do you know specifically which mechina I am referring to? You seem to know. Did you go there yourself?

I guess things have changed that substantially. Our prep (besides the Trom Tironut) were a bunch of guys giving me extra magazines, sakin yapani (xacto type knives), and emphasizing the 5 rolls of different colored electrical tape was enough to start with. And making sure we told everybody in earshot from the Ramat Kal on down that we were from Hevel Eilot (the Arava) and needed extra time to get home on Fridays and to return on Sundays.

Trom-tiranut, in my case. But only couple of weeks.

    Yeah, all too true ...

Guys on the kibbutz loaded us up with those silly knives, electrical tape, rubber balls, razor blades, and lots and lots of "nylon" or plastic wrap ... I still have some stuff all shrink wrapped in nylon ...

Yes, I was in the past machzor.
I also did your interview and accepted you.

I can promise you that you will be fully prepared to pass any gibbush after two months into the program.

Pft we discussed the countdown magazine before. I still think its useless. I'm all for higher quality magazines tho. Re-using those crappy ones from oconomawac tennessee causes way too many jams. In fact the only time my m4 ever jammed was because of some garbage magazine.

It's one of those age old Jewish summer camp patterns, place them where no Jew has ever been before. Bonus points if it gets a make-believe Indian name, and double bonus points if the nearest town was a Klan stronghold.
