Why don't they use IR warning system on Mk.4?

I've seen a lot of photos from Lebanon war and "Cast Lead". Only few of Mk.4 had IR-censors.

Can it be you simply missed them, those sensors are fairly small? It was a standard piece of kit on our ancient POS Magach, there is no reason why they wouldn't be on the Mk4.

No, they are big enough. On this picture, you can see empty places for them.

Perhaps, these tanks belong to the Armor School units or something like that.

Look again. There's one on every side of the turret. I've seen lots of them.

Those tanks are not in action, just training. They lack the Ma-Deuce, too.

Well, than not all tanks have them installed all the time?
Even so, I've still seen lots of themand they're pretty much standard.

Yep, 120mm. Funny thing is that the only thing left after the are fired is that shiny brass thingy at the bottom (dunno the English term), which falls into special compartment on the floor. Merkava pussies have no idea how it's keep all the loading going on when a few cases rolling under your feet, trying to push them back into fired ammo lots when you have a few spare seconds.

That's why I liked the 120mm mortar - nothing left to clean up.

Also the tanks looks like they are practicing coastal defense and anti-amphibious landing exercices which would be more plausible for a country facing a serious amphibious threat like Taiwan, SKorea or Japan...

I'd be glad to see at least three photos of Mk.4 at war with IR-censors.
Here you can see some photos of tanks in "Cast Lead" operation.
