Welcome to Israel, the country of sloppy translations

Could you imagine a "danngerouse curve" sign ?
or an "Amil Zula" (for Emile Zola) street sign?

I always wanted to be the Minister of Official English Spelling.
Kfar - Qfar - Kinneret - Qinneret - Quinneret - Kibuts - and of course David Levi's favorite safari animals, the Dangerous.

Shalom, have two Q about idf stuff.
First one is about IDF FN MAG (M240), what kind of box (textile mag) do IDF use for this machinegun while used as saw. I ve looked for some pic but on every pic was mag w/o ammo and any kind of box. Just once was atached same textile box as us soldiers use. Is that right?
Second one is about vests. What kind of changes do Nahal soldiers on MG vest? I have standard circa 5 yr old marom dolphin MG vest. I know about removing pockets from back, adding velcro instead, about changing velcro on grenade ponches for buckle on rubber band, removing padding from inside, adding more durable hems and adding pouch for radio. What else please?

We use a textile box for our MAG and there is no modern vest for the MAG, only the old Efod. Negev light machine gunners have an MG vest which carries 2 textile boxes in 2 separate pouches in front, 2 in the back pouch with 1 pouch which carries 2 or 3 m-16 magazines.

Which guy are you referring to? The MAG carrier? He's wearing a Negev vest. The other 2 on the right are wearing custom vests.

Gabi's haircut is too detailed in that pic, this violates barber-commander opsec.

Nice pictures from Lebanon, Ren. Thank you again for all your contributions to this thread.

2008 photo from IDF Flickr, POTD.

Today concluded a six week long exercise of the Shimshom Battalion belonging to the Kfir Brigade. Throughout the weeks, the exercise included operational activities, surprise encounters with the battalion commanders, and a frequent change of location. The exercise ended with an infantry drill in an open area of the Jordan Valley.

After 2010’s devastating wild fire in the Carmel forests (northern Israel) the Israeli government has given the IDF’s air force the task of strengthening national firefighting abilities
