Why Israel fields still the oldest Merkava Model (II & IID) on the Golan, instead - for example - MkIV ?

Israel's military chief has issued a stern warning to Syrian leader Bashar Assad after an Israeli military jeep came under fire from Syrian forces early Tuesday. Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz said on Tuesday that Israel will not allow the Golan Heights "to become a comfortable sphere for Assad to operate from." He said that if the situation deteriorates further, Assad "will have to bear the consequences."

Why Israel fields still the oldest Merkava Model (II & IID) on the Golan, instead - for example - MkIV ?
Because these are the tanks of the 7th brigade, which is normally on the Golan Heights.
Normal production rate of the MkIV does not allow replacing of all the older versions at once. MkIV's were also given to a reserve brigade, and probably being given to another reserve brigade (in order to absorb there tankers who served in 401st brigade on MkIV's). Once it is done, 7th brigade will begin receiving the brand new MkIV's.
