    The guys in the pics on the last page I take it are IDF Reservists from the M16 rifles and PASGT style flack vests? That's good they gave that dog water. I hope they gave it a bit of food as it looks like it had puppies as well somewhere *assuming they were still alive." One thing I've always strongly disliked about Islamic cultures is how they often hate dogs. I'm not sure if Lebanese are that way as many are more secular and many are Christian Arabs (or Druze). But yeah it always hurts to see an animal suffer like that.
    The vandalizing of that house wasn't too smart...but I can understand their jokes given that they're being shot at on a regular basis during that time period by people who live in that region.
    That kinda sucks that they only have those old flack vests, but I guess something is better then wearing nothing seperating you from a chunk of shrapnel with your name on it.
    I was told that the IDF M16 rifles are actually M16A1 recievers with mixed A2 parts on them? Is that true?

    There are many rifles in the IDF mixed up with a2 parts. Like a Short m16 with an a2 grip, and an m4 5 times adjustable telescopic stock, and the cone shaped thing that helps you take off the hand guard.....

    it's not just the m16's. Some m4's have mixed m16 parts, like an m16 reciever and an m16 forward assist. Hell there are even short m16's with m4 recievers but have an m16 barrel.....

    I do have one question, Does a brand new m4a1 come with the thick handguards or the thinner ones....If anyone knows what i'm talking about....i'd like to know

    Actually, IAF announced they search for new trainer.

    First time in Israel was in a university program. We went to the Sinai and were having the obligatory go-around-the-fire-and-tell-us-why-you're-here moment. Most of it was in English since we hadn't really developed any Hebrew yet (at least I hadn't.) My then girlfriend who spoke good elementary Hebrew came out with one of those unintentionally priceless quotes because Hebrew doesn't really have homophones (spelled differently, sound the same) like English does.

    She meant to say "I'm here to be a part of Israel." but it came out "I'm here to be an Israeli piece."

    One of the reasons I love Hebrew is because it has a much smaller vocabulary than English. As a result word usage matters and a word in its context takes on meaning, with much less ambiguity than you can build into English usage. If they would just get rid of the gender stuff it sould be great.

    Oh yeah, Piece & Hottie is the same word in Hebrew, very amusing to hear chicks talk like that (in this sample, she must've use the wrong grammar, like using "on" instead of "in", in English). but our English ain't that better - even though it's actually almost 2nd language here.

    For the Israelis it's hard to ****ounce "TH", many use "Z" instead, but we love the gender stuff, it's always help us to find out who is new-comer..
    you probably know we have alot of Russians here, and they don't understand the usage of "the": In Hebrew it's kind of initial - [female] teacher is "Mora", so "The Teacher" is "HaMora". in English you may say - "my teacher told me", but in Hebrew syntax you should say something like "The teacher of mine" [HaMora She'ly]. Russians will say "Teacher of Mine" (Mora She'ly).

    BTW, we do have homophones, but not many.

    I'm appalled by your accusations. Those were PILLOWS with flowers on them. I had normal manly mini-socks made from breathing material.

    From he-wiki:
    קרא - קרה - קרע- כרע - כרה = Kara:
    כרה = Dig [grave...] (past).
    כרע = Kneel (past).
    קרע = Tear (past)
    קרה = Happened.
    קרא = read (past).

    She said "batee cdai lehiot hatichat yisrael."

    My mixup came when some bnei-garin brought a donkey into the garage and I yelled "Ma pitom, mah ze ha-homer hazeh?" instead of hamur.

    My more serious fashla came as an ambulance driver after the army. I'd taken a bat-garin to the hospital in Eilat after she'd fainted. When I came back all her friends asked what had happened. (we were in the kibbutz dining room.) Instead of saying "hi hitalfa" (she fainted) I said "hi hitabdah" (she committed suicide.) I corrected myself real fast.

    I stand corrected on the homophomes. Better yet, I knew that.

    well, still funny!
    For the English speakers - "Ma pitom, mah ze ha-homer hazeh?" is "what is this stuff", the word Homer (CHomer) mostly used about drags & sh*t..
