It's not army boots, it's parade boots. I can't understand who authorized them for combat use or for anything more than walking around barracks, they murder your feet.
Yes, I think the US army boots are a treat for any IDF soldier. I bet the NCOs of the unit are annoyed the soldiers can't shine them.

Did you notice anyone with American boots as in the picture quoted by RoyB?

I saw some guys from Nov '08 a few days ago walking around with them, didn't really had time to ask what is the deal and why are they wearing them though. My guess is the same, testing etc.

Yep, just finished the qualification, which was probably one of the best weeks in basic training. So much shooting...

Basic training is pretty much at it's final stage, it flied by faster than I imagined. The relations with the commanders are a little more laxed, which makes the whole thing much more easy and enjoyable. All in all, great fun so far Can't wait for the Masah Kumta (beret march).

You're not supposed to have so much fun in basic training! i hated it, it was the worst and longest (at least felt like it) part of my service.

My first reserve assignment in the Eilat "Division" shares that honor - 20 days guarding a mitz bor tachmoshet in the hills. Tironut was a picnic by comparison.
