    Paratroopers caught with alcohol jailed.

The IDF has recently waged a war on alcohol consumption among soldiers, in the framework of which undercover and regular Military Police officers patrol entertainment hubs frequented by IDF troops. Israel Police also reports soldiers who get intoxicated while on leave to the army.
I don't get this, Intoxicated where? while still wearing uniform? or if they are on leave with friends can't they get drunk?

In my time I actually got drunk anytime I was at the Kibbutz Disco. I don't know if it was right or not, but it was they way it was.

I didn't do jump school with my mahzor; I had to wait a week. They had me on all day guard duty while the guys were doing the various trainings (count the ways they make you fall into the sand and roll,) but I was released at night if i wanted. For 4 of 5 nights I would go back to Tel-Aviv around 2100 (kibbutz apt.) and eat a real dinner. I'd also pickup a case of beer and bring it back the following morning. No one ever said "boo" other than one of the AF guards at the shin-gimel.

We didn't get drunk, how far can a case of beer go among 30 guys? True test came later in TA near Sheinkin. Tattoos or beers? A bunch of us thought about getting tattooing the Nahal tag on our upper arms at the shoulder - - - but we got the beers instead.

    ^^^^

There were some hard core drinkers amongst the Olim in my mahzor, but no one ever got drunk in uniform, even during chupar stops (IIRC). Food was a bigger priority than alcohol.

That's the thing, they were drunk while in uniform? that's unacceptable but when you are on leave I think is no one business what you do in your private time.

The only time I drank in the army was in Mihve Alon during my army ulpan and 02 training before I entered my regular service with Nahal. Typically the majority of the guys there are Russian/Ukrainian/Ex-soviet country. One night we barred off the door with a bunk bed and they broke out the Ukrainian moonshine vodka. Good times.

The only other time I drank in the army was when I had to guard a base which was about to be handed over to Nahal control from Reservists. Me and my soldier walked up to the Emda and the reservists built a bon fire, were having a bbq and were drinking vodka. Good times.

The Kfir Brigade, where Havat Gilad soldier who was sentenced to 30 Days in Prison, Private Shimon Weizman, served might be dismantled.
Ynet learned that two more recruits, who where asked on Tuesday whether or not they are faithful to their commander or to their rabbi - responding that their loyalty lies with the rabbi first and foremost – might be dismissed from the brigade. Other recruits serving in the same brigade said they will not allow the brigade commander to behave this way, threatening to organize a mutiny if necessary. (Yair Altman)

Something that's usually lost in translation or just lack of specifics is a norm in Israeli news when discussing IDF units. I'm 90% sure they are speaking about the Netzah Yehuda unit which is an ALL ultra-orthodox unit and is sadly attached to the Kfir Brigade (dragging their name through the mud).

this is going to get ugly, lol.

Kfir Netza Yehuda batallion is mostly conformed with people from Yehuda and Shomrom, and they serve there in the so called West bank. They are mostly National religious party supporters. I am not sure if that is 100% accurate but Is what I think they are, and they are maybe a mistake. Once Ben Gurion told the Palmach ( also a party supported battalion back in the 40's) to dismantle and fusion with other battalions.

Those (ultra) religious nutters can be obnoxious as f*ck. i was in a pluga where one platoon was made up of only bei'nishim. I was so happy when my maslul finished.

For the drinking part, i only drank in uniform (chetzi-Aleph) in Tel-Aviv at a bar when me and my mates finished a week of Course Mishtachrim. Never drank when i had a rifle with me.

Nope, they are attached to Kfir. The name Nahal Haredi makes it confusing.

    Hello lads,
I have question. Wiki says that the Moc Tavor will be standard assault rifle of the IDF. They name a source in hebrew, which I cant read. Yet see pics of regular Infantry with the Compact Tavor all over this thread. So what version will be the standard issue for the IDF?
    Thanks in advance
