BAe Systems Mil Mi-24 upgrade Demonstrator photos wanted

And some info please. I once read that BAe intended to replace the gun turreet with a new one with a 3-barrel 20mm cannon. Does the prototype/demonstrator have this upgrade?

Is it just me, or does this look like a helicopter version of the A-Team van?

Funny, why is a British company doing mods on an Eastern Bloc aircraft?

Because pecunia non olet (money don't stink).

And there is a lot of Mi-24 in eastern europe that needs upgrade.

Here is one little picture in the middle of the page.

The purpose of the 20mm gun is because the upgrade is aimed at the new NATO countries that still have operational Hinds. They need NATO standard cannon ammo and 20mm is easier to fit than something heavier.

I have seen a Russian proposal with a 20mm GIAT cannon, though this three barrel 20mm cannon sounds a bit like the three barrel 20mm gun the Cobra carries. If it is the same gun then it is basically a 6 barrel vulcan 20mm cannon as fitted to most US fighters but with three barrels removed to reduce weight.

    Right.

The "Visegrad Four" - Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia - signed an agreement in February 2003 to jointly upgrade up to 105 Mi-24D/V helicopters to NATO standards. This agreement has been abandoned. However, two Polish Mi-24s are being upgraded to NATO standard as prototypes. In February 2004, BAE Systems was selected as integrator for the avionics systems, which will include an integrated electronic warfare suite.

    Hello,
Do you think it's possible to have some pictures of the cockpit ?
I am interested in the Hind modernizations, especially on the avionics side, so I search some more info...
    Thanks !

how long are you sleeping? Some countries in central Europe and east Europe are the members of NATO. And, no west European country have this style of chopper - attact helicopter with infantrymen or special units members, for example NATO headquarter recommended to Czech governement to buy Mi-35 from Russia because it´s special heli...
