Mi-17 further upgrade after upgrade nobody apart of MOD understands because it is expensive and nothing will be basically left from old ones...new engines, new avionics, not jut night goggles like now but complete new night vision system usually used in attack helicopters, new weaponry and laser warning system etc...and their life span is expected for only couple of years.
MOD argues that it is because they want them to send to high risk area missions such is Afghanistan and currently as they are are quite vulnerable...but I have information also from Pravda..and similar information was released when Russian president Medvedev visited Slovakia and sign agreements about our helicopter upgrade program and as far as I know he offered also upgrades of Mi-24 for us.
I read about that proposal in one Russian newspapers but I though that they were just mistaken.
Mi-17 should be fine as they are right now even in Astan, they did they job in BiH and Kosovo. In Astan they would be used only as a transportation aircraft, not attack one for christ sake. As far as I know 6 B-8 rocket launchers can be installed on the slots on it, that´s enough firepower to make whole village disappear what´s there to add? Anyway hopefully it won´t happen, that´s just waste of the money - there is nothing to be gained from it.
Penta - Penta had and have strong ties with SDKU, while Smer inclines to JaT although these things do change rather quickly when comes to money. Can´t say much about this deal till I heared more but its strange. Considering that something like 150 000 euro is needed for reparation of those damned comm systems in MiGs this makes whole thing even sadder than it is.

This is link to article about Czech barter of 5 L-159 for 1 Casa, there is something about Penta involvement in section "Kdo bude inkasovat"

NSE - National Support Elementh (Logistic battalions):

Logistic Support Battalion of 1st Mechanized Brigade:

Slovak made SpGH Zuzana vz.2000 155mm, maximum firing range 39.6 km (25 miles), rate of fire 6 rounds per minute, advanced fire control system allows MRSI - Multiple Rounds Simultaneous Impact - Howitzer is able to engage target with massive firepower when computer fire control system calculates way of firing multiple rounds (in case of battery firing multiple volleys) which will impact on target at the same time.

For illustration 12 howitzers will fire approximately 312 rounds together in just 5min, then all 312 rounds will land on target at the same time bringing hell of devastation..in a mean time howitzers can in minute leave original firing position and in 30 min take another position as far as 40 km (25 miles) away from previous one and fire for next 5min engaging another target with 312 rounds and so on...

Howitzer has advanced communication, navigation and positioning system.
Howitzers can be either autonomous on battlefield as well as cooperate with each other or firing and targeting of battery can be controlled from central command post using system DELSYS.
Apart of long range and high rate of fire another important feature is its ability of accurate hit of the target by the first shot. Excellent stability of the weapon on wheeled chassis leads to maximum possible accurate repeatability.
Maximum speed is 80 km/h (50 mph) and transport range 750 km (466 mph).
