They don't only look expansive. These are 16.000€ a piece. That should do round about 18.000-19.000 USD.

Ever heard of the "Kosten/Nutzen-Faktor"? And besides, Mercedes Benz regularly makes by far better offers than VW or BMW. Hamburg Police has the most efficient fleet management in the Federal Republic of Germany and they got mainly Mercedes Benz E-Calss issued(already in the 3rd generation now).
    So don't make unqualified commentaries....

No. But Feldjäger often ride with trains to typical Bundeswehr-stations, especially were AGA is. Even if you are wearing civil clothes, they looking for correct behaviour.

At sunday and friday they're at the main stations in big cities... ("Machen sie den Parka zu, Herr Hauptgefreiter" "Schnürsenkel rein!") I had a lot of funny stories with them.

It seems like they are allowed to control your ID cards. But isn't this a sole competence of the federal police/police? It just makes me wonder, if I must show it to soldier.

Ah Ok, we have no barracks here so that was totally unknown to me

They should be able to check for ID because BGS can do it too there and they are a Federal Police too.

they are not allowed to check the ID of a civilian. as long as we are not at war they have no police rights in public places towards civilians.

The Royal Dutch Military (Koninklijke Marechaussee) does the same here in the Netherlands.
    It's called Mobiel Toezicht Vreemdelingen.

The Royal Dutch Military Police is allowed to do it here, due to the Politiewet 1993 where the tasks of the KMar are being discribed.

    See this video:

    http://www.werkenbijdemarechaussee.n...o=MTV_300k.flv

Suggest you open it en then make the window half the size, this due the quality of it.
