Can't believe it, how have they come to such a designation: I didn't think that a party like SDP has not almost some former officer or war veteran in its rank to choose about.
I also wonder that HDZ doesn't use this issue for election propaganda.
I would personally prefer to see Božinović stay, he's a non-party minister and has been in various defense departments and positions since 1987.
Unfortunately, since the mentality of "our party members in positions" is still more prevalent than actual experience and ability, we'll have to settle for one Mirando Mrsić
His official Sabor profile:

As an MD who specialized in hematology and also has a doctorate in biomedical sciences, certainly impressive educational record, but our governments in general have a lot of doctors and professors who can't tell their heads from their a*ses. His duties so far were being in committees for health and social services, interparliamentary cooperation, information, informatization and media and being in reserve for Council of Europe emissary and a also reserve for Joint parliamentary committee Croatia-EU.
In short, at no time has this man encountered defense issues in his life and I will be shocked if he can tell the difference between an APC and an MBT. His nomination seems like an afterthought, and I'm afraid that means we'll see a further decline in Croatian military capabilites.
Seems more and more likely that our Slovenian friends will get their way and see Croatian Air Force crippled and turned into an air brigade.

Regarding Božinović, there was a rumour few months ago that he will stay on current position in case SDP wins. But, meanwhile, he decided to enter HDZ, so this option fell off.
Mrsić on the position of MOD is latest rumour, but also Šprem and Bauk were speculated.
Almost these ones are members of Defence commitee: have they for a chance also spent their own military service?
Well, i'm not asking something like that http://www.vojska.net/hrv/zivotopis/...omanovic/ante/ but almost the minimum prescribed by law....
A ray of hope , and in my native language...

First solo flight promotion ceremony was held a few days ago at Zemunik Air Force Base for 9 student pilots who flew their first solos. Four flew in PC-9Ms as aircraft and future fast jet pilots and 5 students flew in Bell 206 helo, one of them being a pilot of the Bosnian Armed Forces. This generation of pilots had a very memorable ceremony, in part because Blanka Vlašić, Croatia's high jump record holder, World Champion twice, Olympic silver medalist and second best all-time jumper, participated as the generation's godmother.
She was flown to the ceremony in a Zlin 242L, expressing her happiness to have been chosen for such an honor by the Air Force. Vlašić also met Krila Oluje lead, Major Damir Barišić, who named the most demanding element of the display team, the bell in formation, after Blanka. Krila Oluje are the only display team in the world to preforme this maneouver in formation.
Anyway, congratulations to our pilots and a great job to Blanka for supporting our Airmen!
