Plus,
two pints of Widmer Apricot Hefe prior to that as an appetizer!!!

Try diet pepsis or cokes and clear liquors and then check your blood sugar level. several friends of mine are in that boat....
I usually just buy the premixed cans of it, then I realised if I had about 12 of them it's the same if not worse as drinking 12 Sodas and I don't even drink soda.
So I'm on the low carb beers at the moment, until I figure it all out.
Out of beer, so I'm finishing a bottle of this:

One of my friend's dad can only drink one beer or wine and then his blood sugar level shoots way up. When I know the man is going to be at a get-together, I try to remember to bring him a low-carb cerveza to try out. It sucks, but at least he's keeping it under control. Some poor peeps can't even have a thin slice of anything sweet without getting into trouble. sucks...
Widmer Hefeweisen, with Chinese food (the restaurant was out of Japanese beer, and I'm boycotting Tsingdao).
Good choice gs, Hefeweisen goes quite well with the fried and spicy chinese food.
Thanks, STIG! My choices were Hefeweisen, Deschutes Black Butte Porter (great beer, but doesn't go well with Chinese food, IMO), Heineken (overrated), Corona (way overrated), Bud/Bud Lite (might as well save the $$ and drink water), and the CHICOM stuff.
Yeah..Hefeweisen is the way to go. Its funny how most of the Chinese restaurants have similar beers on their menu. Belgian Brown Ales are also a good choice to have with Chinese food. I'd recommend Duchess de Bourgogne.
^ I'll have to look for it. I'm glad that Belgian ales are in vogue, as they deserve the appreciation and it is nice to see them available even at places like Safeway.
True that.
I'm having some Hitachino nest Sweet Stout.

We should have a "Beer appreciating social group", or something.
