A Carlsberg.
Consider that Inbev owns both brands for some time, you change where its brewed, who brews it and the beer will simply change in a noticeable way. Water does factor a lot into it, I believe Guinness (or certain types) are now made in Canada and through a million subsidiaries.
I would try that Tomislav. I like Karlovacko very much. I like a good number of the eastern European beers I've tried. At my local "beer emporium" I can get good half liter bottles of Polish, Lithuanian, and other beers for much cheaper than the German ones.
Regarding Irish beer: I haven't had enough to judge. I would say that Guiness is not a fair choice to judge all other Irish beers on, being as how it is a dark stout. Also, Frankbooth is right in that some beers like Guiness are actually made in Canada for the US market.
Guinness is excellent. Smitchwick's is also a great beer as well...but there is a difference between the bottles you get here and the off the tap I had in France...and the word is it's even more different on the island.
Yes Soldat. A friend of mine got some Guinness on tap in Dublin and he said it was a completely different beer. At that time, there was not yet any Guinness on tap here in Idaho, so the only thing he could compare to is the regular nitro-charged cans you see here.
I like Smithwicks... There is a bottle in Mom and Dad's fridge. Maybe I can convince them to open it this evening if I drop by.
/ off to the Irish Pub ... I have a table reserved and Guiness / Girls waiting for me![]()
Drank a Newcastle Brown Ale from a snifter.
