    Default Training Exercise

On Monday, 28 November 2011 Soldiers from the 42nd Mechanized Battalion part of the 4 Rapid Deployment Brigade started on a two-week training exercise at the Hradiště Doupov training area.

While in the first week devoted to training with the new assault rifle CZ 805 BREN, in the second week of exercise should demonstrate that they are well prepared for deployment in Afghanistan.

Taborsky battalion forms the core of 9th PRT units that will be deployed in February 2012 in Afghanistan, in the province of Logar. The Hradiste training area was for the purpose of exercise divided geographically according to the real situation, which the Czech troops are dealing with in Afghanistan.

The greatest emphasis was placed on the exercise of correct procedures for mounting and implementation of tactical patrols, responding to potential security threats and system planning and management. Practice has shown that the 9th Unit PRT Logar is well prepared for deployment in Afghanistan.

Is the CZ 805 used only by a few units (like the 42nd Mechanized Battalion) or it is distributed to the entire army (basically, gradual change depending on financial resources versus stockpile and complete change to ensure the same operational capability and a singular logistics problem)?

P.S. You guys should consider asking a moderators to remove the (about 50 various new pics) from the name of this thread. I don't think is relevant at this point.

For now they want to buy about 8000 rifles of A1/A2 so i guess it will be for NATO response units first and etc. No way to give them to all 21000 soldiers. Estimated wartime stockpile of Sa58 is few tens of thousands and it is beyond MOD's budget to stockpile CZ 805. I wonder if 601st and other special forces will keep their Bushmasters M4 or go for BREN. My bet is M4, but we will see, maybe someone here know more details.

Nice pix Denny and thanks to all other contributors.

He could mean MP, 102nd Reconnaissance Battalion or 43rd Airborne Mechanized Battalion for example, as they are, rightfully so, considered elite.
there are some rumors about 601st SFG getting LWRC M6 e.g. but talking speculations is of little use.

At a forward operating base in eastern Afghanistan, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff dropped by Feb. 10 to meet with the leadership of Task Force Bulldog,
have lunch with the troops, and present awards to eight soldiers, including a Bronze Star Medal to a soldier from the Czech Republic.
    ...
Before having lunch with a few dozen troops, Dempsey presented awards, pinning a Bronze Star on Staff Sgt. Michal Novotny of the Czech Republic’s army.
Novotny, a reconnaissance squad leader and combat medic, rescued an American soldier who was gravely wounded Nov. 19, public affairs officer Terry Kelley said.
On a route clearance patrol, Kelley added, some roadside bombs went off and one wounded a soldier who was on foot.
The soldier lost both legs and a hand, Kelley said, and Novotny rushed in without security and applied tourniquets, despite the possibility that more bombs could detonate, saving the soldier’s life.
The soldier is now receiving treatment in the United States.
Seven other awards included four Army Commendation Medals with “V” device for valorous acts, an Army Commendation Medal for a National Guard soldier from Georgia who was part of an agribusiness development team, and two Combat Action Badges.

And dont forget about the Caste Guard. In Mr. Havel's funeral there was guard with CZ 805 but not sure they were the Caste Guard, maybe Prague military command. But they are part of army and will be issued CZ 805 too for caste perimeter guard. They have Sa58 and Sa61 now.

    Congratulation to Mr.Novotny

Well the first thing is if this unit even still exists. If yes, another question is if they will still exist at the time of CZ805 delivery to MP. There are some "secret" units, but I don´t think that these use standart weapons like the regular units of the army, it is up to their decision. 102. and 43. are "elite" compared to US units like Rangers or Force recon, but in Czech army they are regular, that means their equipment and weaponry is the same or similar to the rest of the army.

BTW, for those who haven´t seen relatively new photos of 601. yet (sorry if repost)

Also I have a question about 601 for those who might have some relevant info. There were many articles in newspaper etc. with information that 601 is one of 5 best units with same specialization in NATO. Is there any other info about this? Because this is really presumptuous claim.. ODA, MARSOC, CAG maybe, SAS, KSK, GROM, JTF2,............ on the other hand, their deployment results are awesome so far.
