My dad nearly got mugged once not far from where we live. Two punks were after his laptop. One of them pulled out a switchblade, my dad smacked him in the face with his briefcase after which they ran off. Ended well, but they could have shanked him just the same. In his conscript days, his UZI instructor told my dad not to put his finger on the trigger if he wasn't about to use it. He told me the two punks didn't look like they had handled a knife a lot and looked afraid to use it, so he did what he did........
Of course he phoned to police to file a charge, but with the two long gone, they probably were never caught.
Damn, the cities there have CCTV, right? Did they get a vid of it and the perps?
He was walking down a dark passageway between buildings, about 1:00am, he'd been drinking, it could have been worse I guess.

Reminds me. Friend of mine landed in the hospital a while ago. He was in a local club, and some guy all of the sudden jumps him and slashes him in the face with shards of a broken glass. Haven't seen him in a while, but it probably left a nasty scar or two....
The unnerving thing is that he had never even met the guy before.
