Military self defence is something that is taught to all in the Dutch Armed Forces, but not it would seem in the German Army. So we tought them, they had to learn to be a little more agressive first and that it was alright to kick someone off of his feet (it is not about being fair, but coming out on top). After that they improved greatly.
I believe that's a weekend activity in the 'Coyote Ugly', over in Baumholder. On weekdays the girls only dance on the bar though.
Quite interesting, thanks. I wonder whether there will be a similar broad introduction of self defence teaching in our armed forces since they will be a fully professional army. I did not have any official training, aside of some mock attacks with our shovels ("Klappspaten frei!") during AGA which were not really meant to be serious. And later some guys teaching us some basic stuff in the gym in our free time.
A little technique, a little controlled agression .... lots of fun. But CRC (Crowd and Riot Control) training is nice too, you get to throw bricks, molotovcocktails and charge at people with shields and batons.
Yup, that sounds like fun. I remember seeing my former company commander (did my basic in a btl that waited for the same toy mentioned in your location to replace the old M-109s) on tv as he explains a riot control-exercise. I was somewhat surprised!
