Yeah, you're required by law to carry one on you when you're above the age of 14. But they're actually EU ID cards. Drivers licences don't count as a legitimate ID because you don't need Dutch citizenship to get a Dutch drivers license.

Yeah it does (mandatory identification, but that's a can of worms i'd rather not open on MPN again, lest Ordie come in here)but this would be a seperate ID that IIRC would also be bound to a specific coffeeshop. Many warned it would make the benefits of decriminalization/policy of toleration undone, as tourists would resort to buying it off of the streets.

It isn't all profit, the Belgian/Dutch border is a mess, thousands of Belgian and an awefull lot of French crossing the border just to get weed, so you get a bunch of low lives flooding the bordertowns just to get drugs, it kills other businesses and causes a spike in criminality cause it also attracts dealers on the street who sell other stuff as well

Makes sense..you'd get dealers selling the stuff right behind the coffeeshop they got it from.

On a serious note, you do already have to show ID when entering most coffeeshops but that's just to make sure you're an adult. Same goes for a lot of bars when you look a bit young.

Wait what? Driving licenses aren't legitimate ID? Weird. We have no national ID card scheme here. If you need ID for something, the two most people use are Passport and Driving License.

I'd say they are, but not proofs of citizenship obviously. You're the jurist, though.

Lets just say that if you get pulled over, they also want to see a ID card or passport.

    Good morning, all.

I had an awful dream last night. I dreamed a group of Chinese cannibals were trying to cook me in a giant wok.
