That's interesting. At the time the phrase was coined weren't the Canucks and Limeys in cahoots? And for some time after?

Sounds impractical. Can you imagine having to chat with every single soldier under your wing whenever he wants to grow a goatee? lol

There is a standardised form (VRA = vezoek / ******* / aanvraag) you are supposed to submit.

Ahem.... I just google mapped Rancho and found several pubs that have Irish beer in the region. One over in La Verne, and a couple over towards Riverside. Are you limited to just RC?

No criticism intended, but I just want to understand the sitch..

Having Guinness or Smithwick's does not make one an Irish pub. I went to Connolly's Kitchen in La Verne last Friday for Fish and Chips (Steak Fries). I'm only as limited to how much I want to spend in gas money. The Pub I was referring to was far in comparison to a few others.

In regards to finding decent cold Guinness, that's not a problem.

Ahh. I agree with you. You mean a proper Irish pub with the right food and atmosphere. There is finally one here in Boise, but the ones that claimed it before were not.

I remember about ten years ago, going into this one that said it was Irish, on St Patrick's Day:

I'd like a Black and Tan, I says.

    What's that?, she says.

It's half Guinness and half lager, like the decoration you have pasted up on the wall there, I says.

Oh, that's just a decoration, she says. .... We don't have Guinness or that Harp one...

    I says, I guess I'll have a Coors.I don't want anything to eat.
